4 year old butterfly tea party
My daughter wanted a tea party birthday. Her birthday was in July, so an outside party was plannded for 8 girls. For the invitations we used a 4X6 card that had tea cups and saucers all around the border. The card said "Tea for two, Two for tea, come celebrate my birthday with me." We asked that each girl come in a dress. I found tea cups with saucers that were child size and had butterflies all over them. The handle was even a butterfly. They were so cute! The party was in the backyard under a white canopy tent which I decorated with white lights and pink tule. I put two card tables together and bought white fabric for a tablecloth. I picked pink hydranga flowers from our yard and had it as a centerpiece. We also had clear bowls filled with water, and in them were floating butterfly candles. I found a child size sterling silver tea set which included the tea pot, creamer and sugar boat it also came with the tray. I bought 2 so we could have one at each end of the table. I borrowed teal glass dishes from my mom and used teal cloth napkins folded fancy with silverware tucked inside. I also had name tags for the place settings. As the girls arrived they decorated vanity mirrors with jewels and personalized them to take home. We had the girls eat next. The menu consisted of: butterfly shaped peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, chocolate covered strawberries, butterfly shaped strawberry jello, pigs in a blanket, butterfly shaped crackers with cheese, mini marshmellow skewers, and of course non-sweetened pink lemonade. The girls used the sugar from the sugar boat to sweeten to taste. They made candy necklaces, we painted fingernails and had butterfly tattoos. We played pass the present to "I'm a little tea-pot" and musical chairs. Each girl received and gift bag with a butterfly necklace, magnetic earrings, bubbles which was a butterfly necklace, sidewalk chalk, and of course their tea cup which I personalized with the child's name and date. They all had a terrific time.
