Hai , I have a little daughter who was turning one on 9/3/07. i had long planned to have a theme party for her. i had chosen butterfly is because it is the one which comes out with beautiful flying colours and expecting my childs life to be colourfull the same way. i had gone through this site various times and had taken a few ideas apart from the ones i had earlier had in mind. first was how to make the invitation , i took print out of a flying butterfly a larger view and got them photocopied to the number of invitations required. i used the highlighters which are usually of bold colours and coloured each one differently making every invitation unique. cut out the butterfly from the paper and at the back of each coloured butterfly i had written the invite as : Flutter on over to celebrate haritha's first birthday bash , catterpillar on by (date), butterflies to arrive at (time) and the cocoon is at (place) and rsvp to my name.then for the cocoon i had made it with silk paper darkest green that is the original colour of the cocoon was chosen cut out, rolled and pasted. i had chosen butterfly font from 1001 fonts.com. got the guest list printed using it and also coloured each name tag with the highlighers.cut it with the zig zag scissor and pasted on the invites. each invite was addressed with the person's name mentioned even on the inside making it unique. the invites were looking like the cocoon with the butterfly in them and when opened they would roll out as real butterflies. we had planned to have the party in a party hall as there was a big crowd of 300+ guests expected. for the back drop of the hall i had made colourfull butterflies out of thermocol ,one large one in the centre and the sourrounding ones were comparitively small. for the pillars in the hall, i had somehow managed to get silk cocoons with the eggs still in them and this looked like a whole egg.i had threaded 5 of such cocoons to form the body of the butterfly and tied two heart shaped baloons to either side making it look like its wings. i had drawn the eyes and put the antenna also and hung it on the pillars , i was moving around due to the fan's air and looked like butterflies flying everywhere. i had made a large board stating welcome to butterfly party". since there would be many children in the party and also because my child is too small to understand any gameshows we had cancelled that idea but instead we had cotton candy a dash of different type of soft drinks so that every one could get their choice of flavour pop corns (as my child loved it much)wafer of different flavours for the children to relish. since it was early summer and also the day being a working day i thought that most of them enjoy eating chaats before they reach home and with that idea i had kept all types of chaat items like bhel puri cold paanipuri sevpuri dahipurisamosa puri etc even plain samosas were available to eat with sauce. veg pulao and curd rice were served for rice items. the sweet was kaju burfi (cashew burfi).we had arranged the food items on different places making it look like different stalls and each one was named like for the softdrinks it said flower nectar pop corn as caterpillar pops  candy as cocoon candy and the entrance to the kitchen said welcome to caterpillar kitchen with a catterpillar wearing a chefs cap on. the rice items were named as monarch special and the chaat as butterfly chaat. oh i forgot about the cake i had orderd totally 8 kgs of black forest cake out of which i had made a seperate 1 kg cake in the shape of the butterfly instead of writing the wordings on the cake plainly i suggested two chocolate boards be made and on that was written happy 1st birthday to haritha and these boards were pierced on the cake which looked as an seperate entity for the cake. i had purchase lotus shaped candle which when lit in the centre opened up and sang happy birthday i had baloon drops during cake cutting and also large amount of party spray was used. knife used in the cake cutting also had the hum happy birthday. each child who came to the party had a beautiful butterfly mask to wear and also a birthday cap which had a butterfly. for the return gifts i bought thick chart paper /construction paper and cut out the shape of the butterfly and made a lovely butterly shaped bag punched the eyes and put a tag on each side making the handle. and also bought some designs and stuck them on the bag so that it looks like the colorfull scale shaped oval and round.now that the bag was ready and looked unique i had to search for the items mathing the theme. i purchased butterfly goggles butterfly watches nursery rhymes cd candies lollypops and balloons. every child and adult who enjoyed the party were amazed at the things they saw and got there. they all like the idea and i hope it also help a mom like me.  good luck sridevi"
