We are having a "Camping Adventure". We will be setting up several tents- one for the boys and one for the girls. We have enlisted several teenagers to help the adult in each tent of kids.  We are setting up some benches around a campfire and several parents will be bringing guitars for our campfire sing a long. Invitations consisted of using a rubber stamp that looks like a wooden twig frame and having the birthday kids picture in there with a caption inviting each child to the party.  We have made some nature trails complete with names like...Big Pine Trail, Rabbit Run, Palmetto Path, we will put some interesting facts along the trail similar to what you would find at a state park.  Games will consist of painting walking sticks in Indian designs, a scavenger hunt outside, a night nature walk with the personalized flashlights that will go home with them in their hobo knapsacks.  Story telling around the campfire, and the next morning a hay ride down to the swimming hole (my sister in laws swimming pool!). They will also get and inexpensive bug jar to put their fireflies in as that will be the table lighting. Foods will consist of a big platter of barbecue pork for sandwiches for the grownups and hotdogs roasted over the fire for the kids.  All the usual barbecue accompaniments will go with it. A store bought cake that looks like a sheet cake on top but is cupcakes below (a break away cake) great for busy campers on the go.  Bugs on the log snacks, chips and bug juice in mason jars to drink. Small bottles of bug repellent will also go into their hobo sacks.
