My daughter's 4th birthday is coming up and we have quite a few family friends (my 4 yr. old is #2 of my 3 girls) with 3-4 children and she wanted her party at Sparkles Inflatables where we
live.
(You can have up to 25 children and adults aren't counted in the price plus they help set up the party and do the cleanup). So we chose the Candyland theme since it is fun and whimsical and ties into the bounce house theme of everything being fun and larger than life. We only have 15 minutes to set up the party room and 45 min. in the party room. So here's what we're doing. I went to my favorite party supply store (Dollar Tree!). I happened to find Candyland magnets and just about everything else I needed. I am going to make the cake myself (white cake with strawberry filling) and decorate it like the Candyland Board. We will have chocolate ice cream(to represent Gloppy) to go with the cake and I am going to wrap the ice cream container with a picture of Gloppy. Since the party is from 11:30 to 1:30 we will also be serving pizza. The drinks will be Kool-Aid Jammers (which come in the Candyland colors) with a crazy straw. (Found them 6 to a pack in the C.C. at D.T.). The plates, napkins, cups, silverware, and tablecloths will be solid C.C. and will be mixed up throughout. (i.e. one kid will have a purple plate, red cup, green spoon, pink fork, and blue napkin on a yellow tablecloth, next kid has same thing only different combo) Then after they've eaten as my daughter opens each gift the child that gave it to her will come and have their picture taken with my daughter and the gift. That will go in the thank you cards later on. Then after the picture the child will walk to the goodie bag table and my sister-in-law will help each child get a goodie bag. Each bag is clear cellophane with cottoncandy(Q.F.) as the fluff and there will be 10 glass candy containers(found at D.T. with lids in the C.C. that I will reuse for art supplies after the party) each jar will have a different candy in it (i.e. twizzlers (L.L.), skittles, gum drops(Jolly), dum dums(P.L.), ice cream shaped gummies(K.C.), hershey kisses(Gloppy), candycanes and peppermints(Mr. Mint), starbursts, pay days(Gramma Nut), and gum balls). The kids will then fill up each bag with the candies they like and pick a C.L. magnet. They will then get a balloon (in a C.C.) that will be tied to their G.B. to close it. Then they will pick up a C.L. coloring book that I have put together from the Hasbro website. Then they will get to pick one of the giant homemade lollipops my kids and I made for the party. (and they get to keep their crazy straw).:) Since I wasn't able to find a Candyland invitation I made my own. I took our candyland board and laid it out on the floor. Then I got my digital camera and filled the frame with the board and snapped the picture (be sure to use the photographing documents" setting if you have one so you don't get a glare off the board). I then put the picture on my computer inserted it into a MS works word processing document and shrunk it to fit 4 per page(like a postcard). I then made another document and did text boxes to fit the images and used a print similar to that of Candyland and wrote my own wording. Next I made the text for each of the 4 invitations a different C.C. Then I printed the images on cardstock turned it over and printed the other side with the wording. Then I cut them into four separate invites and put them in envelopes and mailed. Also the kids are invited to dress as their fave C.L. character. My friends think the invites are a blast and can't wait for the party."
