My daughter turned five and LOVED the game Candyland, so we decided to have a Candyland party.
We invited my large family (we usually only have a family party and not a friend party until they get a little older). I decorated cardboard cut outs with the different characters and used paper to make a Candyland-type maze across the floor in our basement. I found some giant candy (giant lollypops, giant Pixie sticks, etc.) and set them up around the room. We set up different tables around the room to act as the different places on the Candyland board. They had to roll these giant dice we had and move to that spot on the giant path we had made. The first table was labeled Peppermint Stick Forest and we had peppermint sticks and peppermint ice cream. The next place was Gumdrop Mountain and we had gumdrops of all flavors. Next was Licorice Castle and we had made a cute little castle out of red licorice. After a couple spaces they got to the Peanut Brittle House and ate peanut brittle. After that they entered Lollypop Woods and got Dum-Dum suckers. The had to go to the Molasses Swamp where they got gingerbread men and finally ended on King Kandy and got cake and ice cream. After that was done, we played all sorts of games. We had four games of Candyland going, and after a while we did some activities like making lollypops, making soap, and doing some crafts such as card making and shirt decorating. It was lots and lots of fun!
