My daughter loves to play the board game Candyland. So, for her 4 year birthday we had a Candyland party. I made the invitations by scanning some of the characters of the game board. The little guests were asked to come dressed as one of the Candyland characters. I made the cake to resemble the game using candies, cookies, ice cream cones, etc. It looked just like the game! The decorations were really easy. I decorated differents areas to go along with the game. Queen Frostines area had snowflakes hanging above (used doileys and hung on fishing line) and the girls played freeze/dance in this part. Mr. Mint had a huge candy cane and peppermint "candies" hanging everywhere. They decorated popsicle stick frames there.  Had a bushel basket where they threw "candied plums" (styrofoam balls painted purple). The picked a candy treat from a goodie bag when they made the basket. I found these great balloons that looked like big colorful worms when blown up so we called them gummy worms and hung them all above the main party table where they iced and decorated sugar cookies. We taped long pieces of rainbow colored streamers from a hula hoop and hung it up high so they would feel like they were inside a rainbow on the "rainbow trail" (this was one of their favorite things.) Other decorations I made were giant lollipops made with styrofoam disks and dowel rods and wrapped with bright cellophane and tied with curly ribbon. So Easy! I planted them in big plastic pots and we took each childs picture with the birthday girl and then sent the picture with the thank you note. Also made giant pieces of candy using styrofoam balls and disks wrapped in bright cellophane.  I printed sheets of the candyland characters off of the computer Candyland game so while the birthday girl was opening her presents the others were able to color, so as not to get to bored. It was such a beautiful fantasy and the adults had fun as well. Everyone left with big smiles. A huge success!
