Backyard Carnival Extravaganza
Complete carnival theme including rides, midway, and since my husky recently had puppies- a petting zoo. also a concession stand, and prize booth. The midway consisted of several games including duck pond, darts and balloons, hole in one putting green, and a bean bag toss. The bean bag toss was with clown bean bags that the kids had to throw into a clowns open mouth. duck pond was done in a small pool with a couple dozen rubber duckies with numbers on the bottom. Playing each game won the kids tickets which could be cashed in at the prize booth just like entertainment restaurants and game establishments. The prize booth was stocked full with stuff of different ticket values. inflatable chairs and stuffed animals down to small toy cars and rubber balls etc. all cheap stuff that the kids were crazy about. shop the local dollar stores for a while before throwing a party like this. Horde the stuff in your closet and make several visits. At the concession stand we served carnival food. Corn dogs, cotton candy, and popcorn were on the menu as well as a variety of cold drinks. There were a little over 30 kids at the party and everyone walked away a winner!! It was a blast. The planning for this event took every bit of the two preceding months and my advise to anyone looking to do something similar.... Plan well for staffing your game booths. get your kids parents to pitch in if you can and invite lots of family. you will need them. Also, to keep the prize booth fully stocked, shop the local dollar stores for a while before throwing the party and horde the stuff in your closet as you may have to make several visits.
