County Fair My son's 8th birthday is in August.
I tried to think of a new idea and came up with the county fair. The birthday invites were shaped like tickets and admitted one to the county fair. When the kids arrived they were given a snow cones and a bag for the prizes they would win. When all the kids arrived, we began with the typical fair games. We had a ring toss (prize a small leather jacket keychain) bean bag toss, (prize -water soaker football), hole in one golf game (prize candy), bowling game, (prize-invisable dog leashes) a catch the boat (filled the swimming pool with little plastic boats that had numbers relating to a prize(prize - little bouncy balls, they also were able to keep the plastic boat), we had a guess the amount of candy in the jar(prize -brain floss, and the winner got to keep the candy) a key chain craft table and the last game was a raffle for a beanie baby. We drew names for the beanie babies and that child brought their gift to the birthday boy and chose a beanie baby for himself. Everyone won prizes at each game. We had a concession stand with lemon-aide box drinks, nachos, cotton candy, popcorn and snowcones (my older son ran this). I made cookies that looked like hot dogs and put them in hotdog trays. My son typed a thank you notes for each cookie that said thank you for making my birthday so special.Everyone had fun and had lots to eat. We had this at night (from 7-9pm) and hung twinkle lights in the trees. We played their favorite music. We had a great time.
