This is a party that my dad had for me when I was younger, and even though I don't have kids of my own yet, my husband and I had one at our house anyway!  This is a great party for kids and adults alike.  It can be held inside or outside if you have a Coleman stove.  On the invitations, make sure to ask everyone to dress as a hobo(railroad attire makes it even more fun), bring a can of their favorite vegetables and a spoon.  As your guests begin to arrive, have a huge soup pan on the stove to empty the vegetables into. Make sure that everyone keeps their can, because that is what they will eat their soup out of later!  You can have any kind of meat prepared ahead of time to add to the vegetable soup if you want. We like to give a prize for the best costume, such as a new oversized spoon and a huge can of beans or some other vegetable. You could even have a hobo fashion show!
