ELVIS for kids. For my son's 1st birthday, we threw an Elvis party, for our own silly reasons.
Our son wore an "official" Elvis costume (from costumecraze.com). We served foods from the Fit For a King cookbook (incl. watermelon, spinach dip, banana pudding, chicken "love me" tenders, and the famous fried peanut butter & banana sandwiches. For dessert, we served a cake shaped like a guitar my husband decorated himself. Licorice makes great strings! For activities, as many of the kids invited were older, we colored pictures of Elvis downloaded from the official Elvis Presley site (http://www.elvis.com/kids/). We had a "Let me be your Teddy Bear" pinata. The kids all received "rock star kits" as favors, including inflatable guitars, sunglasses, and temporary tattoos (all from www.orientaltrading.com). And we had everyone sign an autograph teddy bear also from oriental trading. Decorations were in fifties shades of pink, blue and black. We hung up old LPs as decorations as well. We played Elvis music in the background, and just generally had a good old time.
