Mulan Party

January 2002

Suzette in Spanish Fork Ut USA

Mulan birthday party.  To start off, we typed up the invitation on the computer and tied them to handheld oriental fans from the dollar store. We decorated the house with Chinese paper lanterns.  I looked up the Chinese version of each child's name (at a translation website) which we pinned to their shirt. They ate finger food with chopsticks (chunks of cheese, pretzels, marshmallows, etc.). I purchased a giant roll of white paper from our local newspaper and drew on the head of a Chinese dragon. We rolled the paper out on our deck and we drew on a looooong body for the dragon which the kids colored/painted, etc. For goodie bags you can purchase small Chinese food containers at a kitchen supply store and fill with various goodies (barrettes with silk flowers glued on to them, fortune cookies, gold coins and small oriental candies that you can purchase in the ethnic section of your grocery store).
