For my two-year-old daughter's Mrs. Potato Head Birthday Party, we made invitations out of cardstock that looked like Mrs. Potato Head. We cut out all of the body parts and glued them on
to make a very colorful invitation which opened up to give the details of the party. We made a Mrs. Potato Head cake by using Wilton's Doll Cake pan and cutting the cone shape in half
lengthwise and placing the two bottoms together to make a three dimensional "potato". I found all kinds of fun candies to decorate the potato head, such as orange peanut
shaped marshmallow candies for the nose, gummy strawberries placed upside down for the ears, gummy peach slices for the hoop earrings, etc.
I also made potato shaped sugar cookies for the guests to decorate, using brown frosting and a variety of candies for the body parts. I made arms out of white pipe cleaners for the big cake and the little cookies. This was a big hit for the kids. I made a sugar cookie as an example to give them ideas of how to decorate the cookie. The children loved this. Then we played pin the parts on Mrs. Potato Head. We also played Hot Potato. For lunch we ate baked potatoes with all the fixin's. This party was fun for children of all ages, and the parents, too!
