Christmas Cookie Decorating party.
I've been doing this for my seven year old for three years. We put on the Christmas music, turn on all the holiday lights and greet the girls at the door with party "halo" made out of star garland. First, we do a Christmas ornament craft. I have found some great craft kits in the Oriental Trading catalog for about $1 per child . We make popcorn and the girls go watch a short Christmas video. While the girls are watching the video, we take out the cookie decorating supplies. I make 10 various Christmas shape sugar cookies per girl so there will have plenty to eat and bring home. I set out cans of white frosting and various decorations for the cookies - colored sugar sprinkles, mini-marshmallows, mini-chocolate chips, red hots, etc. The girls use Popsicle sticks to spread the frosting. Before the party, I stop by the bakery and purchase boxes for the girls to put their cookies in. Refreshments are simple - popcorn, drinks, cookies, etc. Each girl goes home with their decoration and a box of decorated cookies. It is always a great success.
