For my daughter's 13th birthday we had a Christmas Party! It was two weeeks before Christmas and also a sleepover. I created the invitations on the computer using red and green font and borders. The invitation read: You're Invited and I'm Excited!, then all of the party information. I also wrote there will be movies, music, munchies, and merriment! Along with remember your sleeping bag and come dressed in your most festive outfit - the best dressed receives a prize! We had 8 guests at the party (good to have an even number!) When they first arrived, we had Christmas muusic/carols playing in the background and passed out Santa hats for everyone to wear! Once everyone was there, we started with our first activity - baking cookies! I went to the local Arts n Crafts store and purchased plain white aprons, and red fabric paint. I took the red fabric paint and wrote everyone's name on the top of their apron with a few decorations. Each girl, wore theirs while we baked the cookies. We made many different kinds and the girls also got to decorate them with a bunch of sprinkles I purchased. While they were baking cookies, I had some food out. I had cheese balls, pretzels, and doritos, along with a punch that I made. You take a bottle of Sprite, one can frozen pink lemonade, and add orange sherbert to the top. It's a great punch and a huge hit with these girls - there wasn't any left! After we were finished baking cookies, I had purchased cookie tins also from the local Arts N Crafts store. I put wax paper at the bottom of the tin, and each girl took their tin and filled it with cookies that they had just baked! I later added some homemade fudge in with the cookies. The tins became their party favor and they would get to bring that home along with their personalized aprons. After we finished with the cookies, we went into our media room - where we have another empty room next to it. This is the room we transformed into a "Winter Wonderland". We now started to play all the games - we had many! The first game was "Blizzard Bowl". I had taped the sign on the door and infront of the door I took blue painter's tape and made two lines to create a lane. I then took 10 2-liter soda bottles (which I had been collecting) and wrapped them all in the same Santa wrapping paper - these acted as the bowling pins. I lined them all up at the end of the lane. I then purchased a styrofoam ball and that acted as the bowling ball (supposed to be like a snowball!) and the girls played bowling. They each had 2 balls and the first person to have a strike won a prize! Our next game was, Snowflake Race. We had pieces of red and green tissue paper. The girls cut paper snowflakes out of the tissue paper. Then they took a straw and started at the start line ( also marked by blue painters tape along with the finish line). The first girl to blow their snowflake from the start line to the finish line without it touching the groud using their straw wins a prize! Our third game was pin the nose on rudolph. I found an outline of rudolph online without his red nose. I printed off 8 of these and taped them to the wall. I purchased red felt and on one side it was adhesive. I cut dime-sized circles from the paper and this acted as the noses. Each girl took a nose and stood in front of their rudolph I blindfolded them, spun them around. The girl to get the nose closest to the actual spot would win a prize! Our fourth game was pass the candy cane. I purchased a big plastic candy cane filled with hershey kisses from the store. All the girls sat in a circle and I put the Christmas music on. While the music was playing they would pass the candy cane. When the music stopped the person with the candy cane was out. The last person would win that candy cane! Our fifth game was "Winter Charades". I blew up red and green balloons and wrote on peices of paper activities from winter such as, sledding, shoveling, decorating the tree, ice skating, skiiing, etc. I put the little pieces in the balloons right before I tied them. When it was the girls turn she would have to pick a balloon and find some way to pop it. then, find the piece of paper that was inside and act it out. The person to stump the audience with what she was acting out won a prize! Our sixth game was "Melt the Ice Cube" We had a bowl for everyone with an ice cube in it. Each girl had to find some way to melt the ice cube using anything but their mouth. The first girl to completly melt the ice cube won a prize! Our final game was "Santa Look-A-Like Relay Race" This was one of the most fun games! I took 2 pairs of my black boots, two Santa hats, 2 pairs of gloves, and two moshi pillows (to act as Santa's stomach!). I split the girls up into two teams by having them pick number from a hat. Once the teams were all set up, the first girl had to dress run down to the other side of the room, back again, undress, and hand the clothes to their next team member! the first team to complete the relay reace won a box of candy canes! Our next activity was the Yankee Swap. I had each girl bring a gift valued at about $15 and had them bring it wrapped. We played the traditional Yankee Swap rules and each girl got a very nice present. It was really fun. We did this instead of presents for my daughter (season of giving!) so each girl including my daughter got a present! We then did the most festive dressed competion. I made a mini runway for the girls. They each had to walk down it pose, or whatever they wanted. i ended up picking and that girl won a prize! Next, the girls got into their pajamas set up their sleeping bags and we watched a movie in the media room. We chose National Lampoons Christmas Vacation. It was the right holiday movie with a lot of laughter! The girl really enjoyed it! After them movie, we had a "Sundae Bar". I had vanilla ice cream, hot fudge, whipped cream, sprinkles, etc. Each girl made their own sundae and we had that for dessert. After that everyone went to bed! (very late I may add!) In the morning I set up my dining room very nicely. I had tableclothes, silverware, fancy plates, etc. We made waffles from our waffle iron, wih topping like frsh strawberries, maple syrup, hot fudge, and whipped cream. I also had fresh fruit salad, orange juice, or water, sausage, and scrambled aggs. The breakfast was very yummy! and all the girls wanted seconds. Theyleft around 10:00am that morning with their cookie tins, aprons, and Yankee Swap gift. They all said what a great time they had and hope we have another party soon!
