This is a idea for a Christmas Party.  It is for boys and girls and all ages.  I got computer paper with a Christmas theme as the border (you can find it at Target or Hobby Lobby)and wrote the invitation as a letter to all the parents telling them that Christmas was a time to cherish one another and for making memories to last a lifetime and that they were invited to join us for a Christmas party(Grandparents invited too). In the letter I explained all the details for the party because they helped put it on. I told them the time and place. I asked everyone to bring an appetizer of their choice (something easy to pick up and easy to make since Christmas is such a busy time)and to buy a $10.00 gift for their child/children, wrap it and put their name on it and deliver it to my house before the party. I had a friend of the community that looks like the real Santa dress up and contacted the local fire department told them my idea and they brought Santa to the party on a fire truck with sirens blasting through the neiborhood.  I went to the local hardware store and purchased 1/8th inch dowels (I ordered to boxes of 100 and got them cheaper that way they gave me a great deal because it was for kids) and the big fat mashmallows from Walmart (98 cents a bag, two on each stick) borrowed 2 metal barrels filled them with fire wood ( I suggest putting sand under and around the barrels to prevent a fire from spreading)and the kids roasted marshmallows while they waited for Santa.  When the kids heard the sirens they were screaming and running around, I was just as excited as they were.  I can't even describe how I felt. When the fire truck stopped Santa had a hard time getting out. While he talked with all the kids we were taking all the gifts to the tent where Santa would sit. I borrowed a tent from the local funeral home which happened to be green and put my double rocker off my front porch under the tent with Christmas pillows for Santa to sit with the kids.  When all the gifts were under the tent we pulled Santa through the crowd to the tent where the kids sat on the ground around Santa waiting on their name to be called.  I called the kids names out as if Santa had wrapped the gifts for them that way Santa knew their name and would not have to ask. The parents stood around behind the kids snapping pictures. I decorated the outside of my house with white lights everywhere and I decorated my three car garage with a dancing Santa I purchased at Walmart, a small tree which was decorated with candy canes, Christmas pencils and popcorn that I let some of the kids string a day or two before the party for the smaller kids I let them string fruit loops.  I covered my freezer out side with red material and a bow so that it would look like a present. I hung a sign on my door going in the house that was a elf holding a sign that read unattended kids will be sold as elves(to help keep kids out the house).  A table was set up for drinks which included hot apple cider, hot chocolate (with marshmallows, chocolate chip morsels, and peppermint bark), soft drinks and juice boxes for the kids. Two tables were set up for the food and a Happy Birthday Banner hung over the food table and a cake was the center piece which read Happy Birthday Jesus so the kids would remember what Christmas is all about. I had a few tables set up for people to eat at and those were decorated with the musical dolls that played Christmas music.  I had Christmas music playing on the outdoor speakers to make the night feel truely magical.  After each child had a chance to talk with Santa we ended the night with a huge display of fireworks.  My 3 year old is still talking about Santa coming to her Christmas party and that is what it is all about.  All the kids had a great time but the parents and grandparents are the ones that will never forget their child's expressions, I know I won't.
