My daughter was very much in love with Cinderella at the age of 5.
Her grandmother is a care-taker of an area Mansion. We were able to use it for the party. This being Cinderella's Castle. I dressed as the before Cinderella in a broomstick skirt and scarf on my head and answered the door with a feather duster in hand. I made my daughter a Cinderella gown with matching headband for a last minute surprise gift. All of her friends waited at the bottom of the staircase for her to arrive. As I made my exit up the stairs, the girls all shouted "Bibbidi,Bobbidi,Boo". And my little Cinderella came down the staircase to her awaiting friends. The little girls all came dressed as their favorite princess as well, which made for beautiful pictures! We had Baked Macaroni & Cheese, a veggie tray with dip, grapes and chips. I had a Cinderella cake ordered. Decorated the table with those little plastic "glass slippers" filled with candy, small little pumpkins and characters from the movie which I printed out on cardstock from the computer and made them stand like paper dolls. There were lots of helium balloons, including an arch my husband and I made to go over the tables. We played games like pin the tiara on Cinderella, pass the magic wand to Bibbidi,Bobbidi,Boo (like musical chairs), a bowling game that I made from empty plastic juice bottles. I cut out pictures of the wicked step-mother and sisters and glued them to the bottles and we knocked them over with a small ball. We also had a cinderella pinata, which I also made. I used 2 cardboard cake circles and cut a 4 inch width of cardboard long enough to go all the way around the cake circles. Glued them together to look like a hat box shape. We did the pull-string variety (much safer for little princesses) by cutting a small trap door and inserting curly ribbons through it. Only 1 ribbon was actually taped to the door, letting the candy come falling out when pulled. The girls had the time of their life and is still talking about it one year later! It made me feel really good to have pulled it off as cheap as I did without having to skimp out on anything. This party was a dream come true!
