For my daughter's 6th birthday we threw a Cinderella party.
The invitations were hand delivered to the door and were scrolls typed formally and tied with a big pink satin ribbon. They read, "you are cordially invited to attend the party for Sara." When the guests arrived my husband and I were dressed as the King and Queen. We escorted each child into the playroom. When all the guests had arrived we began a "treasure hunt" in search of the glass slipper. I had little clues all over the yard. The children ran from place to place. When the children found the treasure they each received a pair of shiney glass slippers (purchased at Wal-mart). They were then guided to a trunk filled with wonderful dresses and costumes from garage sales and attics. The girls all dressed up for the party. I helped them apply lipstick. They all looked lovely as they came to the table for cake. We played several games with a Cinderella theme. The favorite was a relay in which they had to take off their costume and give it to the next girl in line and help her dress into it. Another favorite was to have someone stand up, leave the room and change one small thing she was wearing, like remove a hair bow, remove a sock, put a different pair of shoes on, etc. Then when she came back into the room everyone had to guess what was different. The cake was a favorite. I made a Cinderella Barbie cake and decorated the gown in pink frosting. At the end of the party I had a clock strike 12:00 and everyone had to leave. As the parents arrived each child was escorted out of the house and got to pet our two hampsters, which had turned back into "mice."
