Cinderella's Birthday Ball- 6 year Birthday party: For my daughter's sixth birthday, we had a Cinderella party. Invitations were printed on full sheets of vellum and attached to printer paper with a sheer purple ribbon. Then I rolled them like a royal scroll and tied the scroll with a gold ribbon. I stuck a mailing label on them and mailed the scrolls (no envelope or packaging necessary). Since I was printing on my home computer, it was no problem at all to change the name on each invitation. In a very royal script font, it read:  Hear Ye! Hear Ye! Her royal highness Princess Caroline of the House of Gowan requests the honor of the presence of Her royal highness Princess Katie Belle of the House of Henderson at the royal birthday ball celebrating the sixth year since HRH Princess Caroline's birth. Please wear your royal princess regalia and tiara to the Castle Gowan address date time This Cinderella Celebration will have the fairy tale in the details. Dukes and Duchesses are welcome to stay for the Birthday Ball or send your carriage for you when the clock strikes 4:00. The favor of a reply to Queen Michelle by April 3 is appreciated. xxx-xxxx Castle     xxx-xxxx Royal Cell Bibbity Bobbity Boo! It won't be the same without you! The invitations cost only pennies to make and only 50 cents to mail. I dressed like the wicked step mother complete with a two-cone hat with dangling scarves (this was two party hats stapled together and spray painted black. A sheer black scarf was cut in half and glued in the ends of the hat). When the little princesses arrived, I gave them feather dusters and told them to dust my house and if they found any gold chocolate coins, they could keep them. Lots of gold "dust" was found and they had so much fun with those feather dusters. Then each girl went out to the flower bed in the front yard and picked a pumpkin (orange balloon with a ring inside). Balloons had a brown pipe cleaner stem and green tissue paper leaves so when they were sitting in the flower bed, they really did appear to be pumpkins. I interrupted the glee of finding pumpkins by telling them that they did NOT need a pumpkin or a fairy godmother and I was going to pop all of the pumpkins. When I popped each one, a ring fell out. My sister dressed up as the fairy god mother and she showed up and cast a magic spell turning them all to princesses and sent them to the ball. I played waltz music on the stereo while the girls danced and danced. When the clock chimed, they ran out of the house leaving one shoe behind. They gathered in a circle and tried to guess who belonged to each shoe. Finally, we ate birthday cake. I made it to resemble a small wedding cake (12" and 8" stacked layers with a pillow cake on top holding a glass slipper). After they ate cake and ice cream, they searched all over the yard for a glass slipper necklace. Those were made out of the little plastic wedding shoe favors. Party favors included Cinderella crayons from Dollar Tree, a little boa topped bag with candy lipstick and candy bracelet, and little bottles of fairy dust. Even though I was the wicked stepmother, I felt like a princess by the end of the party.
