With the help of your site I threw my three year old daughter a circus themed birthday party in our backyard.
The theme began with an invitation that read "The circus is in town for Sydney's 3rd birthday..." As each child walked in they were welcomed with bubbles in the air and circus music downloaded off the internet. They were then outfitted as clowns with a traditional birthday hat(I glued pom poms on top), a plastic clown nose and a felt clown collar (the collar had scalloped edges, glued on felt circles and a big felt number 3). Everything was in primary colors...each table was either red, yellow or blue with red licorice in glass vases as centerpieces. The forks and knives (for the parents) were wrapped in napkins and tied with balloons (not inflated). I served hot dogs and hamburgers and ice cream cake with clowns all over it for dessert. In addition I had chocolate frosted cupcakes topped with pink and white glazed animal cookies. Of course I had a clown come do a little show and make balloons for the kiddies. I also rented a jumper, a cotton candy machine and a popcorn machine to add to the circus flair. Party favors were those animal cookies in there original red boxes that have the string handle attached to them...I printed out little square notes on red construction paper and stuck clown stickers on each one thanking the kids for coming and signed it from their ringmaster, Sydney. The thank you cards were also printed out on my computer and it read "THANKS FOR CLOWNING AROUND!" with clown stickers above it and I sent them out as postcards. This was a really fun party to coordinate, being that nothing had to match and there was a lot I could make myself. The hit of the party was seeing all the children run around with their clown garb on for the entire party.
