For my boys 1st and 3rd Birthday Party (combined the are almost 2 years apart just missed by 5 days).  We had a Circus Party for them. I rented a Elephant Moon Walk,  We had a clown "DoodleBug" she is the greatest. She did facepainting and balloon twisting. We decorated the tables with table cloths, red, blue, yellow, green, and threw circus peanuts out on them, tied balloons all over the room. We played some circus music. (Monkey Music) I went to the concession store and bought hot dog and popcorn bags,  We had popcorn and hotdogs, (chips and dip also)and snowcones and sodas. I found some really cute little clown and circus plates, napkins etc.. at Party City. We made up party bags and put the party favors in the popcorn bags for the kids. (Silly Straws, Silly Putty, stickers, and Pez Clown Dispenser, and other fun little things)  The cakes were a clown cake and a lion cake. (My sister made them both they were gorgeous). The kids had a really great time.  The clean up was not all that bad.  I have done a theme every year, we have done a Barney Party (Barney came to that one), A Puppy Party, (All the kids were puppies)My sister made the puppy cakes then too they were adorable and it was a really fun party for the kids, and! then we did a cowboy party last year that turned out great as well.
