My daughter Cayla, just celebrated her 2nd birthday.
She loves Clifford so we decided to have a Doggie Day Birthday. First we sent out handmade invitations with her posing with a giant stuffed Clifford. For snacks we had "Hot Diggety Dogs" which were the miniature cocktail hotdogs wrapped with little strips of crescent rolls, and BBQ sauce and mustard for dippers. Also we had "Doggie-Kibble" really just the Chex Muddy Buddy Recipe. And "Doggie" bones made out of meringue. Each of these were served in Real dog dishes. The games we played were pin the nose on a Clifford poster that I had in my classroom and we had a doggie piņata. For an outside easy table decoration that served 2 purposes...hold down the tablecloth and provide party atmosphere, we had 8 balloons 4 yellow and 4 red, Clifford's color and placed them in a mini-Clifford backpack that was secure with a large rock at the bottom. The balloons were just tied to the top handle of the backpack. The cake was just a bakery cake that I ordered just with a yellow border and the birthday message at the bottom. I then had a table top decoration of Clifford which I taped 2 forks to the back of and inserted into the cake...very simple yet it went perfect with our theme and I didn't have to decorate a Clifford Cake-Pan cake with 50,000 star tipped icing decorations. All the kids had a blast and stayed well past the scheduled 1 1/2 hour.
