Glitter Party: My six year old girl was very much into glitter, pink and anything that was shiny.
Isn't every 6 year old? Therefore we had a "glitter party." I made invitations and decorated them with shiny glitter paint on the front. Besides the time, date, address, etc., the inside stated:"Win a glittery prize for playing games. Decorate your own piece of birthday cake with candy glitter. Decorate a T-shirt with glittery fabric paint (provided). Make a glitter ring. Have lots of fun!" Also enclosed was a Zip-lock bag filled with a piece of paper and lots of assorted craft supplies like gems, pieces of glittery paper, etc. A note said "Decorate a birthday card for Nicolle and bring it to the party. Use your imagination - plus glue, scissors, markers, etc - but only use the supplies in this bag. We will vote on the most creative and glittery card and you could win a prize." Parents reported to me that their children were so excited to create a card and they couldn't wait to get to the party. It also saved the parents money -- they didn't need to buy a card. The games consisted of "Pass the glittery box" (I used shiny wrapping paper on a little box). It was played like "Hot Potato". The last girl holding the box got to open it and keep the glitty body gel that was inside. We also played Kerplunk with shiny marbles. The girl with the least amount of marbles also got a body glitter gel. Nicolle and I love to craft so we decided to do some activities with the girls like the ring. We just took a small piece of pipe cleaner and fitted it around their finger. They got to glue on shapes of fun foam and a gem on top. They loved their rings and of course, got to take them home. I found cheap black t-shirts and I had tons of fabric paint. The glitter paint showed up so good on the black and they had fun creating their own unique shirt. Nicolle still wears hers months later. The cake was a huge success because they got to decorate their own piece. We had a lot of fun and the girls got to take home their rings, their T-shirts and the body gel that they won. Girls just wanna have fun!
