For my twin boys first birthday, I decided to make the theme balloons.
For the invitation, I made a 4x6 postcard that read.."It's going to be a big day. We're celebrating \*\* & \*\*'s First Birthday. There will probably be cake on the floor. Inflate your balloon to find out more!" I then included a deflated balloon inside the envelope with all the party details (who, what, when, where) written on the balloon. I used a permanent marker and matte latex balloons to write the details. I blew up the balloon (did not tie it shut) and had someone else hold them, while I wrote the details, and then deflated the balloon and inserted with the invitation. I also wrote the details in small font on the back of the invitation in case something happened to the balloon. I made cupcakes with red, blue, yellow & green icing and taped curling ribbon to the bottom of the cupcakes. I then arranged the cupcakes on a platter to look like a balloon bouquet. The entire house was decorated with balloons. Tableware was all done in red, blue, yellow and green...(napkins, plates, and table cloths). As a thank you for the guests, I prepared a small treat container with assorted goodies inside for each guest with a small note attached that said..."Thanks for helping us celebrate our first birthday. We had a BLAST! Love, \*\* & \*\*" Everyone thought the invitations and theme for the party was so cute and simple, but very original. We had so many balloons that everyone was able to take home a balloon bouquet of their own at the end of the day.
