Color party! For my daughters 5th birthday, she wanted to have a big party, that included all her new friends, but that was also unique, and that none of her other friends had already had. her
best friends birthday was only 3 days after hers, so we decided to share the event, which is great because it halves the cost. After a lot of thought she decided she wanted a color
party. her favorite color was pink and her friends was purple, so that were our theme. The invites were made from pink and purple crepe paper with silver writing, they instructed
the guest that they should come in their prettiest clothing, as long as it was pink or purple.
We hired a church hall (very cheap)that had a kitchen area we could also use. EVERYTHING was pink or purple, even the bread for the sandwiches (which was easy to make, just add food coloring to the dough). We had a cake specially made, but home made, iced with appropriate colored icing would work just as well. We then hired an entertainer, who did a short magic show, then led the kids through all the traditional party games, and played music for them to dance to, with bubbles from a bubble machine floating everywhere. She was great, and meant that I could put my feet up while she was responsible for the kids for a couple of hours. For party favors, we wrapped up some sweets in circles of pink and purple crepe paper tied up with ribbons. The whole party was a huge success, everyone had a great time, and now every time I bake bread my daughter insists I add food coloring!!
