Shapes Party
We had a shapes party for my one year old. The room was decorated with bright colored paper chains that had been punched with different shapes before assembling. I painted paper mache boxes in various sized shapes to scatter about the room. I used shaped sponges to paint a plain white tablecloth and the favor bags. The favor bags were filled with star shaped sunglasses, a heart bead necklace, a ball, and a book on shapes. the bags had bright colored tissue coming out the top and doubled as decorations during the party. I placed shape and crayon window clings all over the sliding glass door and had bunches of Mylar balloons in heart, star, and round. All different type of shape sorters were scattered about for the little kids to play with. The older sibling did "pudding paint"(food coloring mixed into vanilla pudding) and bubbles. The cake was round and covered in white fondant. I then used small cookie cutters to cut different shapes from the white and replaced them with colored fondant shapes. I glued small foam shapes to red hats and topped it off with a bright plaid bow. One of these also sat atop the cake and this hat had a picture of my daughter as a newborn glued to it. (Frame the picture with colored paper and then glue a button between the hat and picture to make it stand out a bit.
