My son likes green, has since he was little. Invites we did a 16 on the front of Green stationary and put please bring 16 items (the same) from photo's to gifts. We put 16 candles on the page and 16 cakes. Everyone brings sixteen gifts (sixteen photos of from babyhood to now; a list of sixteen things that happened the year born; or more expensive gifts, like 16 CD's or ... well, you get the idea). We did the birthday info also on the stationary. Therefor we invited only 16 people. We did 16 cup cakes and did green frosting and had 16 ice cream cups. It is also celebrated the other way around, the birthday boy gives each guests sixteen things (party favors, etc.) So if you are giving away key chains you give away 16 to each guest. This was really fun because the gifts ranged from wonderful memories to lots of gifts! In return the boys liked getting 16 favors (we did candy for a couple of the favors and then did the keychains). We wanted to return the 16 items in some form. That was a lot of key chains 16x16! Got them through Oriental Trading so it wasn't too costly. The boys were creative from wrapping in 16 boxes to the littlest box, or 16 Hot Wheels which were my son's favorite toy as a child. It was a Happy 16 birthday that wouldn't be forgotten by any teenager. Girls you could do 16 perfumes, or lipsticks. Just adapt the idea to girl things.
