Construction Party-3 yr old  Invitations read Constuction Worker, (child name), is turning 3.   So rumble on over on (date) to the following constuction (park).  Please RSVP to the Project Managers by (date).  They were decorated a picture of my son in a bobcat, dump trucks, hardhats and tools. Games:   My husband played the foreman dressed with a toolbelt, hardhat and whistle and the organized games included:  1) wheelbarrel races. There were two lines and we set up to cones for the kids to go around with little plastic wheelbarrels.  They were to go to a sawhorse to pick up their Home Depot aprons and the second round was hard hats. Although most of the kids didn't go around the cones and took alternate routes to the sawhorse, which was hilarious, they had a lot of fun. To top it off, we lined up the kids and got a great picture of them in their HD aprons and hard hats. 2) wrecking (demolition) ball bowling consisted of hanging a plastic bowling ball from a tree with pantyhose and a rope.  The pins were set up on plywood and each child let the ball go to knock over the pins, which resulted in a strike everytime. It also helps to have helpers setting up the pins. 3) find the tools in the sandbox.  We created digging signs and used caution tape to mark off the area.  We decorated the site with my son's construction vehicles. Each child got a shovel and went to work to dig up as many tools as they could find.  All of the tools were put in a wheelbarrel and sorted out so each child received a shovel and a set of five tools to take home with them. 4) Bob-the-Builder pinata was the final activity.  We stuffed it with Bob-the-Builder fruit candy, other candy, plastic watches (to get those workers to the site on time) and little squirt guns.  free play: 1) drawing station included a paint easel created by my husband from sawhorses. We then put tape around pieces of drywall that they could draw on. 2) build station using my son's big plastic building blocks. 3) Other R&R and play stations with bubles, balls, etc.  Food: We served pizza and chinese chicken salad. We served the appetizers in paint trays. Silverware and napkins were in the tool bucket organizer. Plates were in my son's new big dump truck.  The cake was a construction site with construction vehicles on top. Decorations included:  caution tape as streamers, tools hanging from the ceiling.  Signs labeling each of the different stages of construction project (Design, Build, Refuel, etc.) The kids and adults all had a great time and the kids took home the following party favors that they received during the organized games:  hardhat and tools (99C Store), Home Depot apron (free), plastic shovel and goodies from the pinata. My son is still saying "thank you" for the party and we had a number of people tell us we should go into party planning. PS-this is a great website
