This is for my son's 2nd birhtday For the invitations they were stamped with a sponge like effect in black and yellow, I had printed a caution tape logo across the middle, and wrote on
the front Conner is turning 2"(so when reading it read like "Caution" -conner is turning 2") on the inside of the invite it said: "First year of demolition is
complete Time to rebuild We will be breaking ground on January 6 at the King Construction site. Your shift begins at 1:00. Company paid lunch break provided. Please Contact the shift Foreman
if you are unable to make your shift at ***-****." For the decorations i bought an orange plastic table cloth orangeblack and yellow cups plates and napkins and put them in a kids
toolbox i found at walmart. I made street signs such as the orange "DIP" sign to warn of a coming bump and hung that by the food near the dip of course i had a "no
dumping" sign near the bathroom ( that the men at the party thought was hilarious) a stop sign on our TV a men at work sign on the play room door and so on. I found at Target littel
wooden street signs for a train table for a dollar so i used those in the food area. I decorated with caution tape instead of streamers. For the Adults food i had a Build your own Sub
sandwich station and had all the fixings of a workers lunch Potato salad Chips and dip veggies and an Italian pasta salad but i used Wheel pasta instead of spirals. For the kids i made them
PB and J sandwiches individual bagged chips and cookies and fruit boxes and put them in a brown paper bags. they had a Construction hats (oriental trading company) and Menards generously
donated kids aprons (a dozen) for them to wear that i gave them when they walked in(i took a picture of the goup ofkids in their hats and aprons and sent thanks you cards to the man i spoke
with)Home depot agreed as well but were out of stock) For the gift bags i put Tonka fruit snacks a sheet of tonka like stickers. Dum Dum suckers and a matchbox car. the bag i used was a black
paper bag i found at the dollar store. For activities i had 3 stations set up in the play room one i called "Planning" and here I had color pages printed from Tonka.com and put a
bucket of markers and crayons The 2nd station was called "the model home" and here i had Play-doh with cars and trucks rolling pins cookie cutters and other things for them to build
with. The third station i called "build it" i had my husband take 4x4's and hammer nails and
screws in all the way so they won't come out but there is still plenty of nail left out and set pretend hammers and screwdrivers So they could bang and "build" The ages of children I had there were 1-12. I had a dozen children there so it worked nice having 3 different stations it grouped them better that way. For the Kids cake i bought the biggest mighty dump truck from Tonka for (29.95)cleaned and sanitized it really good and baked 2 choclate cakes frosted them with chocolate cut them in squares and layered them in different levels in the back of the dump truck so it looked like big blocks of dirt. I served it with a kids sand shovel. this worked well as he got to keep they toy after we cleaned it for one of his gifts. I also made an adult cake that was just the same rectangle cake but had those deco-cake candies shaped like dumptrucks and other diggers placed on it. For the thank you cards i took a picture later that day of Conner playing with each toy that he recieved or holding money or wearing the clothes that he received and cut a piece of white cardstock a 1/2 inch bigger around on each side of the pictureand stamped it the same as the invite with the yellow and black. On the Back(it was just one piece so it looked like a post card) i wrote "thank you so much for the gift. I love it. Love Conner" and we hand delivered them. this was so much fun to plan and was really easy once i got into the fun of it. i know he probaly won't remember it but I will. The suprising thing was this cost very very little to host and was so much fun for all ages! Brandi King "
