Construction Party:  We are having a construction party for our soon to be 5 year old.  It will be at a city park. The gazebo will be streamed with caution  tape, purchase at hardware store. The playscape will be our construction site. A sign with " Patrick's Construction Site" will be placed at the entrance with a Stop Sign and Caution Sign. Make these with neon yellow tagboard and black and yellow electrical tape.  Our friend will arrive with a tractor for the kids to climb on and pictures taken. Also a home is being built down the street and we will go there to  take authentic construction site pictures with the kids in a hardhat with the foundation in the background and of course a porta-potty in the pic as well. This will also be our bathroom facilities for the day. There will be a dress "Bob" contest: an adult volunteer will be dressed by 4 and 5 year olds in a t-shirt, plaid shirt, Levis, socks, work boots and hardhat and tool belt.  Then "Bob" has to wheelbarrow kids down to the construction site where the child has to put on his real Construction Hardhat and work apron,which each child will take home as party favor; pound "nails" ,golf tees, into "plywood",styrofoam blocks; climb up the "scaffold", the playscape; ride down the "dumpshute" slide and then "Bob" must then wheel the "trash" off to be dumped at the "dumpsite".  First team to "dump" all his "load"(kids) will win. This should be hilarious with the kids dressing "Bob".  The "construction" table will be yellow metal saw horse legs with a plywood. Our dessert table will be covered with a plastic construction tablecloth with pictures of dumptrucks, concrete trucks, etc. Paper goods are just black and yellow and red plates and cups. Table decorations will be my son's own toys: dump truck, hard hat, "Scoop" from Bob the Builder,a remote excavator, and play tools. Yellow , red and black balloons tied to these. Also a picture of our Patrick taken at a real highway construction site by his uncle will be on our construction table with the centerpiece being the cake, described below.  Utensils and napkins will be place in clean paint buckets.  Chips will be served in new colored paint trays with a "spackle" onion dip.  "Green Paint" Avocado dip and "Red Paint" Salsa will be served with "wood chips" tortilla chips. A Build your own sandwich area with "bricks" toasted Texas size toast, "mortar" mayo and mustard spread with new Putty knives. Grilled chicken, lettuce, tomatoes will have to served as the filler. Orange and white water coolers will serve our drinks.   A chocolate cake with chocolate frosting decorated with 4 toy constructions trucks (purchased at the dollar store). A gravel road (graham crackers crumbled) leading to a "brick yard" Double Bubble Gum Blocks, a dumpsite with dumptruck with dirt ( crumbled oreo cookies ) and "scoop" scooping dirt into the dumptruck. A cement mixer pouring out "cement"  white frosting into a worksite area, outlined with "2 X 4's" licorice sticks. The cake will be served with a "scoop" and "dumped" onto a plate  Party favors are work aprons filled with Coloring books made with printed various construction trucks from an online site sandwiched in yellow and black construction paper and tied with a rope; stacking crayons; whistles; Bob the Builder fruit snacks; laminated "Constrution" bookmarks (printed with a personalized "Thank you for coming to my 5th Birthday Celebration, Love Patrick on the back) and yellow, red and black balloons which were tied to our table dumptrucks as decorations. The girls will get "Little Kitty" coloring books and laminated "Little Kitty" bookmarks (also personalized  with the same "thank you". Little ones got Personalized "Elmo" coloring books from PBS site.  Adult and young teens have horseshoe, volleyball and football to entertain them. Also we will feed the wild ducks at the pond with feed purchased at a feed store.
