Construction birthday party for 5 year old. We set up the back yard to look like a construction site.
I got a roll of CAUTION tape from the local Grainger store ($12.00 for 500ft). We taped off the section of yard with tape and yellow and black balloons. I made different signs (caution men at work, yield, stop, etc.) my father-in-law made two bench seats out of raw lumber which we put up on each side of a folding table. The table was covered with both black and yellow table cloth. The cups and plates had the construction trucks on them. I bought a bag with about 6 construction toys in it. I used those on the table. I bought aluminum paint pans and put dip and chips, cookies, etc in those. I drew a picture of a track-hoe on poster board. Then, I made little men. We played pin the worker in the seat. I also gathered up all of my sons construction toys and the children had a ball digging and building. All the children got plastic hard hats filled with carpenter pencils, little notebooks, candy, etc. My son insisted on a track-hoe birthday cake. I made it! I couldn't not believe how cute. Now I get requests to make friends children's birthday cakes. The children had a great time both boys and s.
