For my daughter's 10th birthday, we had a cooking party.
The invitations were sent on a recipe card, here's what we said........RECIPE FOR EMILY'S BIRTHDAY PARTY.....1 Cup Fun, 1 Cup Friendship, 1 Cup Happiness, Pinch of laughter. Mix all together and bring to Emily's house on Friday, September 24 from 5:00 - 8:00. We will prepare then eat an entire menu. You will be the CHEF! YUM! The thank you notes were sent on a grocery list. As the guests arrived, they received a chef hat to wear(bought at Sam's Club), and an apron(bought at a flea market). I gathered the girls for a little instruction on the do's and don'ts of cooking, and told them about the menu they were about to prepare, then eat! This was our menu....cran-dandy cooler, chippy chicken, cheesy broccoli casserole, yummy apple salad, and magic cupcakes! The girls were very excited about it, and had a lot of fun! We decorated two tables with tablecloths, flowers, etc. Before long, our menu was ready to eat, and the girls were so proud to eat their own cooking! When it was time to leave, each girl received a goody bag with a pad of guest checks (to play restaurant), a set of mini wooden utensils, a recipe booklet with all of the recipes we had made, and some candy, of course! It was a huge success! Many of the parents still tell me how their daughters loved it, and they use the recipes!
