For my daughter's 8th birthday, she wanted to have a cooking party. We sent out invitations made on our computer with red gingham trim and a picture of two little girls cooking in the
kitchen. I bought a white flat sheet at Walmart and made simple aprons that would fit each child.
When each child arrived, they could decorate their apron with fabric markers, starting with their name. We had made chef hats for each guest from white bristol board and white tissue paper. After everyone was there, I let each guest make their own pizza's with lots of toppings to choose from. We used english muffins as the crust. Most children made 2 or 3, some made 4. When they were finished, I put them on cookie sheets lined with aluminum foil, and wrote their name in marker beside it. I had baked lots of white and chocolate cupcakes, and let each child decorate 4 cupcakes with different coloured icings and sprinkles. I had styrofoam take out boxes for each girl to take their cupcakes home in (the ones they didn't eat right then!) and labelled each with a gingham sticker and their name. We had red gingham table cloths, red and white balloons and red and white streamers. We played limbo games, had the girls run an obstacle course with pizza boxes on their feet, and a treasure hunt. We had made up layered brownie mixes in clear bags, and attached a recipe card for each girl to take home and bake too. Everyone had a super time.
