For my daughter's 7th birthday, we had a "chef" party.
We made our invitations out of recipe cards, asking each guest to bring an apron and an appetite. I purchased paper chef hats from a party supply store and as each guest arrived, my daughter gave them their chef hat and they put on their aprons. When everyone had arrived, I had the girls sit at the table. First, I had plates of carrot sticks, celery sticks, raisins and apple wedges, along with peanut butter and cream cheese. They made edible creations out of these ingredients, such as animals, flowers, butterflies, etc. and then ate them. Next, they made their own sandwiches out of tuna salad or egg salad (which I had made prior to the party). I gave them cookie cutters to shape the bread if they wished. After lunch, we went outside and had a scavenger hunt. I had hidden kitchen utensils out in the yard and gave them a list of the items to find (spatula, wooden spoon, ice cream scupper, and others). This was a really big hit, and they actually asked me to re-hide the items so they could hunt for them a second time!! We then went back in and decorated cakes. I had made 9 inch round cakes, one for each girl, ahead of time, and put each cake on a cardboard circle purchased at a baking supply store. I gave the girls vanilla frosting and the ingredients to decorate their cakes, which I wrapped up and they took home to share with their families. We then sang happy birthday and ate ice cream cake, followed by opening of the presents. I received many compliments from the mothers of the girls that came, and my daughter really enjoyed her party.
