Wild West Cowboy Party - Okay, For our son's 5th birthday, he wanted a cowboy party!  So here's what we did,  First of course we had all the themed party supplies, We ordered $1.00 straw cowboy hats for all the guests to wear plus red bandana's. Our goody boxes had rattle snake eggs,(the trick ones) plastic snakes, plastic sheriff badges, etc...   We played so many games!  We set up different booths, first was a Gold Panning booth, I took a $5.00 plastic swimming pool, pieces of burlap, sand & spray painted rocks gold, Gave the kids pie tins to pan in the water.. They loved the gold nuggets and it was really Fun. Then we had a lasso booth, I took a small hoola hoop and tied a rope to it, and let the kids lasso an old milk can, weighed down with sand.  We had of course horse shoes, with oversized horseshoes that were easy for the kids.. Big Hit!  We also drew a picture of a cowboy on a big piece of cardboard, and cut out the mouth and let the kids throw water balloons through the mouth. The last activity we had was a long kid sized table, rented for only $6.00 at a local rental place. We surrounded the table with bales of hay and a canopy for shade, I copied a cowboy boot on 11x14 paper and let the kids create & design their own cowboy boot, with glitter, glue, stickers, rhinestones, whatever!  With each booth we gave the kids a prize and I had someone working each booth, The kids had a Blast! I made a CD of the Riders in the Sky cowboy music playing in the background.  After the activities which took only a little over an hour, We had hotdogs, chili, cornbread, Cowboy shaped sugar cookies, Sarsaparilla for the drinks! What else? And then we did the piņata a boot! I made a pair of cowboy boots for the cake, I took 2 sheet cakes and but them into boot shapes, decorated them and they were adorable!!!! We served the cake with rootbeer floats in little plastic cups.  People thought I had catered the party! My mom is a country & western singer and she sang songs for them.  During  the gift giving part, we all sat in a circle and the kids passed around a cowboy boot while I played orange blossom special on CD, When I paused the music who ever was holding the boot stood up and brought my son their present they brought for him, and in turn my son gave them their treat box, and then each child passed the boot until all the presents were open and everyone had something, It saved on all the kids trying to open the gifts with him.  and it was fun for them, It took about 15 minutes for the presents and then it was about 2.5 hours later and everyone Left...Yea...I was exhausted but it was so worth it when my son thanked me so genuinely! My children will only be little once, and their life is worth celebrating Everyday, some people might think I go overboard, but hey, We are building memories and Life.. Everyone still talks about it and he is almost 6 now,  We have started planning the Mad Science Party for this Summer,  Wish me luck... Thanks
