For my daughters 4th birthday we decided to have a Cowgirl Party. Invitations to her birthday parties are always made off our computer with her photo (litghten) as the background. We used clip art and
pasted a cowgirls hat to the photo.
The invitation read "Howdy Partners", _______'s turning 4 years old and we'er gathering up our favorite buckaroos to help us celebrate! ________'s Corral, date and time, Give us a holler at #. When the party guest entered each was directed to a different room in the house whice were labled for "Bandanas & Mustaches"(hand sewn bandana material & liquid eyeliner) another room for "Hats" (Oriental Trading) and another room for "Photo Shoot" (3x4ft piece of wood {or cardboard} cut a 2x2 ft square out for the childs upper body, paint WANTED on the top and 10,000 REWARD on the bottom, you can make it look like a poster. We took a polroid picture of them and let them watch it develope..it's very exciting at this age) Music is a must, a selection of country music was chosen and was piped throughout the house. We hung red crape streamers from each end of the room and blew up 50 red balloons and just layed them around, kids make up their own games at this age. We attemped a game which two of the older kids ran around the room with a balloon and string tied to their ankle while the younger kids tried to corral them and pop it. But not a good game for some of the younger party guest. We also took a picture of the birhday girl to Kinko's and had it blown up to lifesize, laminated it and had a "Pin the Hat on the Cowgirl". A neighbor came and read a book (Cowboy theme of course) while I got the food ready in the garage: Hot dogs, chips and baked beans. We decorated the garage with Christmas lights, disco ball (great for the cake time) and hay. I used refrigerator boxes and drew picket fences on them to cover up both sides of the garage. The best was the table decorations: checkered table cloth, peanuts, raphia(sp)and confetti on the tables. Peanuts were a hit, it entertained them while they waited for their food, and they had so much fun throwing the shells on the floor. Jessie from Toy Story II was a bit hit and she graced our homemade cake, along with a Fisher Price fence, plastic horse, green coconut grass..etc. We finished the party off with a puppet show (another frige box) about the "Three little Cows" a revised version of those cute little pigs. Read by my husband and assisted by an older child. We have a compressor in the garage that huffed and puffed air at the audience. Lots of giggles. Finished with the opening of the presents and "LOOT BAGS"(brown lunch bags with red blocks drawn to look like brick) filled with money paraphernalia (Oriental Trading). This year it's "Under the Sea" and I'm off to pirate some ideas from this site. THANKS
