for my youngest childs first birthday we decided on a cupcake party using the one is fun napkin theme. For the invites I enlarged a clipart cupcake and included all the info on the picture and
cut out the shape. The kids ranged in age from 6 weeks to 6 years old.
Fortunately I had a lot of activites planned b/c we had a downpour. When the kids arrived they were asked to decorate their own cupcakes they I had already frosted and they put on candies, gummy worms and squeezable icing. they then could make candy necklaces out of fruit loops and string licorace. I also had other stations set up that the kids could go to. I had one adult applying temporary tattos, another station where the kids could put their hand print w/ a stamp pad onto finger paint paper adhered to a rectangle of foam. We included their name and date. In another part of the party I had a tub of water w/ 6 numbered ducks and fish and the kids had to find to matches inorder to receive a prize. They were able to take several chances. I had a parachute and sidewalk chalk out as well to decorate the garage/party area. We also played pass the present--hot potato--each kid received a prize if the music stopped and they had the present. the winner of that game got to open the present--bag of teddy grahams. The final game was pin the candle on the cupcake. For dinner I served the kids hot dogs and fruit and everyone was able to eat the cupcake they decorated. For treat bags, each of the older kids got a $1 craft activity, a rubber birthday duck, a candy pacifer, stickers and a stencil. The babies got a teething ring or sippy cup and cheerios snack pack--walmart. Each family also left w/ a cupcake balloon which served as decorations. Despite the weather and amount of kids in a small space I think we kept them busy.
