I threw a Curious George party for my three year-old son who absolutely adores the character. I decorated our party room like a jungle using streamers in two shades of green and covered
the table with a green tablecloth. I accented it with Curious George partyware from Birthday Express and balloons in primary colors tied down with a banana. I created a banner
with a picture of George from a book (you could use an overhead machine if you can't do it freehand) and spread Curious George books around the room.
The birthday boy wore a tall yellow hat I found at a party store (in reference to the man with the yellow hat) while the other guests wore George party hats. As guests arrived they were able to color a placemat of George found on the internet and copied onto yellow cardstock. I planned to read a book ("Curious George Rides a Bike" is a good one for a birthday), but our group was a bit too busy for that activity. For refreshments, we had cupcakes topped with green sprinkles and a banana-shaped candy. We also served banana splits, which the children help make by selecting their own toppings. They loved it! At the end of the party the guests went home with yellow favor bags full of goodies like Curious George fruit snacks, monkey stickers, and trinkets that encouraged curiosity like kaleidoscopes and bubbles. This party was a blast to plan and my son stills loves to read the books, which is even better!
