My son Rowan will be turning 1 soon, and since we have a Curious George theme in his room ( I painted a mural of George riding his bike, with grass, a giant tree that goes to the ceiling, and clouds in the blue sky..) We thought that we would have the same theme for his birthday, but do the "jungle" theme. We are going to send out invitations that say- " Our little monkey is turning 1! We would go bananas if you could join us!" The cake is going to be in the shape of the big yellow hat, with a monkey tail coming out of it, as if George is hiding underneath it. We are going to have it outside, and decorate with animal print balloons, palm trees, and a "grass skirt" for the table. And have green streamers with paper leaves glued to it for the vines. We will be serving monkey chow, ( tropical trail mix with banana shaped candies added), monkey tails in a blanket, (Pillsbury croissant dough wrapped around lil' smokies, with a slice of cheese), pizza snakes, ( breadsticks with an olive for an eye, dip in pizza sauce) and other assorted snack foods. The goodie bags are full of an assortment of jungle type toys, bubble wands in the shape of jungle animals, bubbles, bath mitts that are jungle animal shaped, animal pens, and animal print visors. ( oriental trading co. has the best stuff!) We are looking forward to it, and praying for nice weather! :)
