Dino dig Party. Every year I plan up a b-day party and this one was a hit. Dressed up the kids as archeologists and had them dig up the garden for dino bones, (planted there the
previous night...) Also bought some of those hidden treasure sand blocks which sell at dollar stores.
Break off the sand parts and find the treasures. The highlight of the party was the birth of a baby dinosaur. All it took was a dino hand puppet,(Take one of those plastic lizards they sell in stores, cut off the head and cut a hole in the stomach. Using a glove place a finger though the body and place the head on the tip of your finger. This will allow you to move the head. Use a dog sqeeky toy to make the sounds of the baby dino.) To make the egg, blow up a balloon and paper mache it. Once it is dry, pop the ballon and leave a hole in the bottom of the egg in order to place your hand puppet inside. Last thing you need is a table with a hole in the center. Make a nest and place the egg on the hole. If you have an assistant you have them hiding under the table in order to work the puppet. Just before doing this trick wet the egg in one spot so that the head of the puppet will be able to break though the egg. Then sit back and watch the faces of the kids as they watch a baby dino being born. Other games included a dino pinata, filled with gifts, and a dino nest egg hunt,(same as a easter egg hunt.) Hope that will help. Tried it with a group of 10 kids between 5-7 about two years ago and they are still talking about it. One of the kids actually believes that the baby dino is in my basement heating the house.(I have a furnace...) :) Enjoy!
