Dino Dig Party Theme My daughter turned 5 last February and her favorite thing (of all things!) were dinosaurs.
I decided to create a Dinosaur dig for her and some of her friends. I filled a 20 gallon tub full of play sand and then buried all sorts of dinosaur things in the sand. I included marbles which they were told were fossilized dino eyes. I found plastic dino skeleton parts at the craft store and plastic dinos at any dollar store. The kids wore an excavation hat and took turns digging up these treasures and then we gave them each a magnifying glass to look at their find up close. The kids were squealing with anticipation and loved this party. I found a dino pinata and then sat it next to a nest (which was actually a wooden wreath from Michales) and covered with moss (also from Michaels) I then placed 7 colorful chalk eggs inside the nest and at the end of the party the kids all took one of the chalk eggs home as a favor. This was so fun for the kids and educational as well. I had typed out little facts about each type of Dinosaur that we found and we talked about them as we were digging. Try it .... kids will be crazy about it. Oh yeah... My invitations read something like " jenna is turning five and we think that is COLOSSAL... Come to the party and dig up a FOSSIL!" Then your Thank you cards can say "No BONES about it... we were DIGGIN' this party! Good luck!
