Dino dig party! For my sons 5th birthday we had a dino dig party. Invitations were sent with instructions to come "dressed for a dino-dig". I decorated with large
dinosaur cutouts I found at a local teacher supply store.
I bought a few rolls of brown mailing paper , and twisted it to resemble tree vines. I twisted it around the posts and fence of the backyard porch, and added some large palm leaves cut from green craft paper. I hand drew a triceratops and hung it on the wall for a game of "pin the tail on the triceratops". I bought two dinosaur head "claws" and filled many small water balloons, the children had to transfer the "dino-eggs"(balloons) to the other side of the yard into a dinosaur nest(a left over undecorated xmas wreath) using the claws, without "breaking" the eggs. then I bought an inexpensive sand box and filled it with about 200 tiny plastic dinosaurs, and gave each child a bucket and shovel to dig for dinos! The buckets and dinos I also found at the teacher supply store, and were very inexpensive. For lunch we had fresh veggies, dino shaped nuggets, and dinopunch. The kids had a great time, and loved taking home their bucket of dinos, along with goody bag full of dino accessories I found at the party supply (dino pens, and tablets, bubbles, growing dinos...)
