On my son's 7th birthday I had a Dinosaur Dig Party. I made bones by pouring plaster (you just add water to this powder mixture) into bone molds of a T-Rex I found in a toy store. Then I had a
large pile of dirt in the backyard where I buried them in. When each child arrived, they got a kid-sized construction had that I put a dinosaur sticker on the front of, and a little
tykes colored shovel to dig with, goggles and a magnifying glass to explore with, which they got to keep all of it. They could each dig up four bones, so everyone who came would get some. I
decorated a tree like a volcano, wrapping burlap material around it with some red burlap along the top of it, like it was exploding. I also hung long, colorful snakes from the tree branches
low enough to run into if they didn't go around them. I sprayed footprints of dinosaurs, which I made from cardboard, with washable spray chalk tracking them all around the patio, each kind
of footprint with a different color. Then I also made a huge nest out of straw and placed large styrofoam egg shapes in them after painting them first. We had a T-Rex pinata with candy and a
dinosaur cake. For the goodie bags, I used brown paper bags, wrinkled them up to look old and stamped dinosaur feet walking accross them. I put mini dinosaurs in them , a small bone dig kit
(the bones glow in the dark after you dig them out), and small plastic eggs with candy in them, as well as dino stickers. And for entertainment I had a magician come for an hour to muse the
kids later. It was awesome! and fun!!
