For my sons 6th birthday I planned a caveman/dinosaur party. The ideas for activities were endless. I started with the invitation I got the card stock printer paper and on the front I found a clip art caveman and the front said:  Return to the land of the Dinosaurs....our little caveman is turning six. On the inside:  Ben would like you to join him for his prehistoric 6th birthday bash. The date, time and for the location we had the party at his grandmother's house so I had at his grandmother's cave. I also included that we would be having brontosaurus burgers, dino dogs, fossil chips tar pit dips, caveman cake and ice age iceream. then conculded with you'll be sure to uncover a dino-mite time of food, fun and game, and some dinosaurs too....Don't be extinct!! For activites I made each child their own volcano. This was a very easy and fun activity. I puchased small bowls and 3 oz cups. I cut a hole in the bolw large enough for the cup to sit down in. Then I took playdough and formed the volcano baked in the oven until the playdough was hard, then I put it on a paper plate to catch the over flow. The kids LOVED this and they got to take them home with them to make their volcano erupt over and over again. The next activity I planned was a pinata bust. I made my own pinata out of flour and water. Using a balloon as the core I covered the balloon with layers of shreaded paper and the flour and water mixture. After the outer part of the balloon dried I cut a hole in the pinata and popped the balloon and removed and then filled with candy and toys. Since I had some smaller children at the party I decided to set the pinata on the ground and let it be a golf style pinata bust. With blind fold and stick they each had several turns and the older children found out that it wasn't as easy as they thought that it would be. After the children busted the pinata while they were sorting through thier candy I used this as the time to hide the dinosaurs and dinosar bones and dinosar eggs so the children can go on a scavenger hunt. I had purchased 3 large plastic dinosars and had made small pinatas that looked like rocks, and the children that found one of each got a rock and then top three that found the most of any of the three got to pick which dinosaur that they wanted according to 1st, 2nd and 3rd. This was another activity that they children had a load of fun doing. The final activity that I planned was making dinosaur fossils. to do this I took a cup of potting soil and mixed in enough white school glue to hold the soil together and pressed this down on a paper plate, then using elbow macaroni that had been slightly brokeen the children made their own dinosar fossil. they took these home and let them dry over night and they were able to remove them from the plate and they had a lasting memory of the party.  For the cake I took the caveman on the front of the invitation and added a talking balloon and in the talking ballon it said Ugh-A-Buga Ben is 6 and under the caveman it said Happy Birthday Caveman Benn. I printed this and took it to my local bakery and they made it into a edible image and the cake as adorable!!!  For goody bags I printed out some little thank you cards and in zip lock bags put candy, dinosars, cavemen and the thank you card.  The children had a blast with all of the activities and cried when they had to leave so all in all I believe that my son'e 6th birthday is one that he will all ways remember.
