For my daughter's 3rd birthday we had a dinosaur party. I began by making tiny little party hats for some of my daughter's many model dinosaurs (made from paper with tiny fuzzy balls glued on
top) These were placed all around the party area.
My little girl loved that her "dino friends" were invited to her party! As the guest arrived they were led to the door by giant black dino footprints cut out of black poster board and stuck down with double-sided tape. For the food table I made a laminated dino with a chef's hat on holding a huge menu board that read: CARNIVORE CUISINE - Brontosaurus Burgers, Hadrosaurs Hot Dogs, Tyrannosaurus Mex-Dip. HERBIVORE FARE - Spike-tail fruit kabobs, stegosaurus bites, Veggies & Dino-mite Dip, Prehistoric Punch. The spike-tail fruit kabobs were made to look like a stegosarus by using a pineapple for the body and a apple for the head (raisin for the eyes) then the "spikes" were the fruit kabobs stuck along the top of the pineapple. The cake was a 3-D triceratops made by using 1/2 an egg shaped pan for the nose/mouth section then use a round cake pan and cut around top edge to look like "fan" of triceratops. Stand this up behind nose and attach with long toothpicks, use sugar cones cut down to size for the 3 horns. Everyone loved this cake! For games all the kids were given paleontologist hats (safari hats at party store). They hunted for eggs in the yard which were filled with these tiny pill things that when you wet them they "grow" into sponge dinosaurs. The kids loved "hatching" the eggs. Lastly, a dino piņata!
