Dinosaur party
We had a dinosaur party for our sons fifth birthday. For the cake I hand drew a stegosaurus and used it as a stencil to cut the cake into the shape of a dino. Then frosted it with green and brown swirled icing. For the punch we used tropical punch with orange sherbert spooned into it (lava juice). When the kids arrived I had transferred a T-Rex onto a brown paper lunch sack and they got to color their own goodie bag. We had a dino hunt in the back yard, by piling up leaves and putting small plastic dinosaurs int he pile the kids had a blast digging through the leaves(nest) looking for the baby dinos. The decorations were newspaper palm trees, made by taping three sheets of newspaper (shortened) together and then rolling it into a tube tapping the edges down. Then cutting slits about halfway down, pulling and spinning so that the slits unfurl to make the palm fronds. Painting accordingly. The wall behind the party table was covered with an old brown sheet with cave drawings on it. The kids played T-rex tag the person being it was the t-rex and got to wear a paper dino mask I drew and cut out. They would chase the plant eaters around until the next t-rex was caught. The party was held around lunch so we had chicken wings for the meat eaters and a vegetable tray for the plant eaters. Every one had a blast into the past.
