I had a Disney Princess Birthday Party for my 4 year old and 2 year old.
The invitations were hand made. I used a rubber stamp of Cinderella and Snow White on the front inside a stamp of a flowery border. These were then all hand colored in with markers. The inside was printed on paper and cut with decorative scissors and then glued. It read "Hear Ye, Hear Ye, Ye are Invited to Ateend a Royal Princess Party given by Princess Alyssa and Princess Jennifer at (and the info. of where, when, etc.) They were also instructed to bring a "Royal Party" dress for the party. As the guests arrived Princess Alyssa handed out coloring books and directed them where to go color. These coloring books were copied from coloring page websites. It consisted of the 6 Disney Princesses and their Prince Charming. The cover read Welcome to Princess Alyssa and Princess Jennifer's Birthday Party May 3, 2003. An hour was given for everyone to arrive and eat. Then the activities and games began. The first game was Pass the Poison Apple. Similar to hot potato. Snow White music was played during this game. Then Pin the Shoe on Cinderella was played. I traced a coloring page off a website depicting Cinderella trying on the glass slipper using a projector to make sure the "slipper" was big enough for the kids to handle. I painted the picture except for the "slipper". I then made "slippers" for each guest and extras (just in case). On the heart of the "slipper" I wrote the guests' name. They got blindfolded (except for the smaller kids) and used tacky tape. The next game was Aladdin's Musical carpet. I used Aladdin's song "Prince Ali" to play during this game. I used small size carpets from a carpet store that was given to me. These were mainly scraps that they didn't need. I got enough for everyone and extras. The next activity was making tiaras/crowns. I set up the tables with bowls full of gems and jewels and letters. Each child got a sponge brush to use and glue was poured into a bowl for them to share. As the girls finished their tiaras they were given a snack bag full of beads and a yarn to make a necklace. The boys were making swords. When the girls finished their necklaces they got make-up on. My sister took care of this job. When the girls were done with this they all came inside to get dressed for The Royal Ball. While the girls were getting dressed, my hubby and sis-in-law decorated for The Royal Ball. Lots of white balloons were put all over the backyard on the ground. White balloons in groups filled with helium were posted in four corners of the backyard. Bubbles filled the air from a bubble machine. I played Cinderella music and introduced all the girls one by one as Princess (name). They came out, posed for the cameras and walked over to where all the white balloons were. The girls were then instructed to hold someones hand they wanted to dance with. I whispered this into their ear. I then let everyone know that if they were holding a Princesses hand they were going to dance. The waltz from Cinderella was played and the Princesses and their "Prince" (even moms) danced around the white balloons and while bubbles were blowing. If it were darker outside I would have put white lights everywhere, too. Everyone posed for pictures and then it was time to eat cake. The cake was from a bakery shop. Oh, Princess Alyssa(4) was dressed as Cinderella and Princess Jennifer(2) was dressed as Snow White. I had dressed them up before the big day and took their picture. This was the top of the cake. A picture of them in their costumes decoratd with pink and purple icing. Treat bags were given out that consisted of Disney Princess items or Princess like things (candy lipstick, bracelets) the boys were given boyish kinds of things. Not much to do with prince stuff since I couldn't find it but they didn't really care. It was a great day. Lots of planning went into it but as long as you're organized and flexible, everything will go well.
