My daughter's 5th birthday, one week ago, was a Disney Princess Party. We rented our subdivision's clubhouse and invited all her preschool girlfriends. The girls came dressed as their favorite princesses and once everyone arrived, the fun began. I had bought Disney Princess fabric (Walmart, of all places, carry it!)and constructed 8 birthday hats (true princess cone style with the veils in back) from the fabric, posterboard, and some spray adhesive. I also added toile (purple shiney netting) for the veil in the back. Glued on a little elastic to keep them in place and VOILA. Now for the girls part of it, I ordered clear, purple and pink gems from Oriental trading which they glued onto the hats.  Next, we colored, with markers, Belle Bookmarks which I had printed from the disney web site onto card stock in black & white. Punch a quick hole in the top and tie on some yarn and they were adorable. We next played the Snow White Apple game to the Snow White theme music.  The girls stood in a circle and when the music stopped the girl with the apple sat down.  We didn't make it a contest, just for fun.  The girls played that game 5 times! They loved it. While the girls danced to Princess music, I set up the next craft. We used fabric markers (not messy and easy for 5 year olds to handle) and generic princess stencils to decorate canvas bags (also Oriental Trading)  They required no dry time so while the girls were eating their Princess sandwiches I was able to fill them with all their goodies.  We also made Ariel bracelets, plastic "sea shell" beads with a twist.  I used Ariel clipart on a printing program that I have.  I printed them on an address label maker so that 2 would fit per "label"  I printed them on regular paper and then used clear contact paper to "laminate" them.  Next, I used my wonderful circle cutter (scrapbooking) to cut them into very small circles, then I used a nail to put a small hole into each of them. (this was amazingly easy & quick) The girls were then able to use these Ariel's as "charms" on their bracelets.  As a closing, and while my daughter opened presents, the girls made Princess playdoh by adding glitter to regular playdoh.  Then, they used the new Princess playdoh stamps and went to town. Next, we had cake and ice Cream and by the time we were done, the parents were arriving!  I tried to represent all the princesses but it was only a two and a half hour party, so I left some out.  All in all, the party was awesome! The girls had a blast, and besides the blizzard we had the night before, which made for a messy party day, it was perfect!
