I took ideas I read off of this website and added to them and this was the most fun and least expensive party I have ever given.  My 7 year old wanted the princess theme. I rented the dvd - Princess sing-a-long "Once Upon a Dream". The whole party was based around that. I was not sure how that would work but it was great.  Fast paced and yet flexible.  I sent invitations on princess paper inviting princesses and knights to a party (no knights came) The invitation read: Hear ye, hear ye.  Princess _______ invites all the princess to a royal party at her new castle (address). Wear your best princess attire and bring a new or gently used book for a gift exchange.  No other present required.  On the day of the party, I put red wrapping paper down on the sidewalk leading to the house for the red carpet.  Everyone loved it and the girls looked beautiful walking up on it. No cost cuz I had it on hand.  Once all the princesses arrived we started the dvd - each game was played while that song was playing - we would start any song over if we were not done.  1st song/game: Cinderalla. I told the girls to take their shoes off and mixed them up. Then we lined them up on the other side of the room and told them the first to find their shoes could start dancing to the cinderalla song.  They loved it. (the games might be out of order from the dvd because I sent it back but just put the games in the order of the dvd songs) 2nd song/game - Ariel - Guess the dinglehopper. Took as many paper bags as princesses and found common household items and put one in each bag. We handed these to the girls and they had to guess without looking what was in the bag. Very fun - no cost.  3rd game - Aladdin -  I made each girl a magic carpet out of some old drapery material.  I had rolled them up in a basket. Each girl picked one out and was told to sit on it while the song played - the song was where Aladdin and Jasmine are on the magic carpet. I took 3 bottles of finger nail polish (light pink) and when the music stopped whoever had the bottle had to paint their nail. Once all your fingers were painted you had won.  They absolutely loved this game. They got to keep the magic carpet. 4th game - Sleeping Beauty - I handed out foam tiaras I had purchased at the dollar store for .50/each. They danced and sang to the song.  5th game - Snow white - Pass the poisin apple. Pass the apple and when the music stopped whoever had the poisin apple had to fall asleep. Once everyone was asleep I gave each girl a chocolate kiss to wake them up. They loved this game and asked to play it again. Which we did. 6th Pochohantas - Colors of the Wind - I gave each girl some new crayons and they colored a page while listening to this song. 7th - Beauty and the Beast - I had purchased 2 bundles of red roses from the dollar store.  Cut them apart and gave each girl a red rose and then we did the book exchange since Belle loved books.  Again pass the book - stop the music and the book you have you can open and take home.  My only cost were the books I contributed and $2 for the roses. 7th Mulan - Reflection song - I gave each girl a pretty sparkle bag that had a mirror, brush and puff. $1 each from dollar store. then it was off to cake and it was time for the carriages to arrive for the princesses.  It was so easy and so inexpensive.  I loved all the ideas I got from your site and wanted to share since this was so easy to do. I maybe spent $60 with the cake for the entire party.
