My daughter loves the Disney princesses and she wanted a princess party for her 4th birthday. Invitations were by Disney ... added typed insert notifying attendees:
Jillian is so looking forward to you sharing this special day with her that she requests that rather than bringing her a birthday present you be her guest at: Belle's Book Ball Belle loves books so much that Beast gave Belle his library full of books as a special present. Belle wants everyone to enjoy reading as much as she does. For this reason, Belle has created a special Book Ball for very special guests and asks you, a very special guest, to share your favorite book with another guest. Instead of bringing a gift for Jillian, please bring a gift-wrapped copy of your favorite book. Now the fun part, at Jillian's party, all of Jillian's very special guests will participate in Belle's Book Ball and every very special guest will go home with a brand new book. Decorations: lots and lots of pink and purple ballons, streamers, Disney princess posters. When each guest arrived they received either a tiara or a crown. Entertainment: Disney princess jumper. Games: each game represented a Disney princess (1) Cinderella: Find the slipper game. I made a wishing well out of a box and put some shoes in it. At the party, each guest had to take off one shoe and place in box. The guests then did a relay to find their shoe and return to the line before the clock struck midnight. (cinderella songs played during the race). At the end each guest received a candy pumpkin. (2) Snow White: Pass the poison apple. Played like hot potato but when the music stopped the person holding the apple had to pretend to fall asleep. At the end of the game, each guest was awakened with a kiss -- Hershey kiss that is. (Songs from Snow White used) (3) Jasmine: Musical Magic Carpets. We made magic carpets from poster board. This was played like musical chairs. (Songs from Aladdin played) (4) Ariel: Guess the Dinglehopper. I decorated a large box with blue paper, tissue paper to look like seaweed, and then colored pictures of Ariel, Flounder, Sebastian, etc.. to paste on the box. Inside I place about 20 items ranging from a pine cone to a watch. Each guest had to reach in and guess the dinglehopper. Some answers were quite unique. (5) Belle. "Belle's Book Ball." last game played. We passed a book around and when the music stopped that person got to take that book home. This worked really well in lieu of presents and it was really neat to see what books everyone brought. Food: Not much here. I made a 3 tiered castle cake, with sugar cone turrets. I had the princesses to place on the cake. We also used sparkler candles. Ice cream. A cooler full of juice boxes, water. Chips, pretzels, etc. .. no one ate any. We also had Aurora's Spinning Wheel (rented cotton candy machine) and gave away Fairy Floss. The kids loved this -- worth the cost just to see the looks on their faces. Goodie Bags: ALL bought from Oriental Trading ... in each bag, 4 princess stickers, 4 bubblegum coins, princess bubbles, 3 fake gemstone rings, princess lollipop, swirl lollipop, princess wand (pixie stix like but with disney princesses) and prism. Each guest also got to take home cotton candy and a helium filled balloon. Rain dampened the full enjoyment of the jumper -- but everyone had a good time.
