For my daughter's 5th birthday she decided on a dog theme. Invitations were simple bought at Walmart with a couple of dogs on the front. I painted large dog footprints on the
driveway using black hairspray and made a large fire hydrant out of red poster board for the front door. They were sent downstairs to the adoption center (a sign hanging at the top of
the doorway pointed the way to Abby's Adoption Center.) They were able to play or watch 101 Dalmations in the waiting room" decorated with balloon dogs made by me and my husband
after a quick lesson on the internet. Each child had to take a number and one by one they were allowed to pick out a dog (webkinz bought on sale) kept in a large dog kennel and adopt
it. I made adoption certificates off a website on card stock. Then they had to take there new pet to the vet. My husband was the vet using my daughter's Barbie vet center she got
for Christmas last year and made sure each pet was healthy. The kids thought he was hilarious. They received a card verifying eyes ears mouth nose and happiness signed by
"Dr. Jamie" that I also printed on card stock. Snack time was upstairs served in small doggie dishes I bought at the dollar store. I didn't want to spend a lot on food
so we just had snacks (puppy chow and "dog food" trail mix) and cake. I bought dog webkinz figurines off the web and put those on the cake my daughter got to keep them after
the party. I decorated the kitchen with large bones I cut out of brown postal paper to look like dog treats. Plus balloons streamers banner and table clothes in turquoise and lime
green. While waiting in line for pin the dog tag on the dog I had them color and decorate there own doggie bag craft with markers and stickers. Each child got an outfit for
their new pup I made with the help of the dollar store and Michael's. For the doggie treat I took the wrapper off large Hersey bars and made new ones with a picture of each dog
and Happy Birthday Abby written on the front and Ingredients: Friends laughter cake and dogs make one happy birthday party written on the back. They got to take home their
new pet outfit certificates (health and adoption) doggie bag and treat home in a little straw purse I found at the dollar store. It didn't cost a ton because I made most of the
decorations myself and bought most of the rest of the supplies at the dollar store."
